Pairwise nucleotide comparisons of five complete ST-21 C. jejuni genome sequences. The comparisons were performed using a Bayesian statistics model [25], with black representing identical sequence stretches, white representing non-aligned (unrelated or missing) sequences, and red areas indicating imported/recombined stretches of sequence (h = human; ch = chicken; f = food; b = bovine). The two-digit number behind each header indicates the strain comparison (each digit corresponds to one strain), equivalent to Additional File 3: Table S10. The intensity of each color represents statistical uncertainty. One horizontal line (line number of y-axes) is equivalent to 50,000 kilobases (position in line of the x-axes corresponds to the basepair count). For all alignments, strain 04199 (largest genome, strain number 1 in genome alignments) was used as a reference genome.
