  1. a The eight age groups were integrated into three as small number of newly birthed miRNAs has expression data, on which statistical analysis is likely to be spurious. Those miRNAs originated after the primate-rodent split was grouped into a group, referred as Young; those originated after rodent-non-mammalian split and before the primate-rodent split was grouped into Middle, and those originated before cow was grouped into Old. Wilcoxon statistics were used to test significances.
