Phylogenetic tree of nucleophosmin/nucleoplasmin family members from various metazoans. Amino acid sequences were aligned with CLUSTAL W (Thompson et al., 1994), and the tree was produced with MEGA 3.1 (Kumar et al., 2004) using the neighbor-joining method. Two other histone-binding proteins, NASP [61] and N1/N2 [62], which are closely related to each other [61] but unrelated to the nucleophosmin/nucleoplasmin family were used to root the tree. Bootstrap significance values are shown at the corresponding internal nodes after 1000 replications.
