Figure 4From: Identification and characterization of rye genes not expressed in allohexaploid triticale Validation of the silencing of two rye genes in triticale. Two rye coding sequences that were not expressed in triticale but found to be present in the genomic DNA of triticale were rescreened by RT-PCR on the cDNA generated from RNAs of two-week old rye, triticale and wheat seedling. Ubiquitin gene was used as a control for the expression in all plants. (A) RT-PCR revealed that R8 from the rye genome was silenced in triticale shoot. (B) Low expression of R29 from the rye genome was detected in triticale root. The ladder has DNA fragments with molecular sizes of 1500Â bp, 1000Â bp, 750Â bp, and 500Â bp.Back to article page
